Nel 2009 Sottile fonda il progetto "C'è quel Sud" che si concretizza con un lavoro discografico con la direzione artistica dello stesso Bennato. La tournée, testimonianza di attaccamento alle radici, alla propria terra e alla propria cultura riscuote grande successo. Segue una proficua collaborazione con gruppi musicali pugliesi di caratura internazionale per la trasmissione, alle nuove generazioni, delle memorie della propria terra attraverso il recupero di un'identità musicale meridionale e mediterranea rivisitata anche in chiave moderna. La positiva esperienza viene replicata con la concretizzazione di Canti e Cunti - suoni, odori, sapori, parole della tradizione - tra riti, miti e siti dalla Calabria alla Sicilia, anche questo un “viaggio” alla riscoperta delle "radici comuni" attraverso il confronto, questa volta con esperienze musicali siciliane, con altri gruppi. Con la sua band si esibisce in numerosi concerti e partecipa a numerose importanti manifestazioni musicali, al Kaulonia Tarantella Festival e al Taranta Opera. Partecipa al seminario Verso Sud - movimenti musicali e tradizioni culturali del mediterraneo. Nel 2010 l'attività prosegue con la tournée Pelle Ribelle che allarga i canoni musicali tradizionali alle culture degli altri Sud del mondo, attraverso numerosi concerti. Ricordiamo il grande concerto di Roma e il progetto Ex Voto - canti di fede e tradizione - che ripercorre la natività attraverso i canti del Sud Italia.
